THE
PLACE AT THE LAKE "I've made my statement,"
Brent said of the home he and Anne built at Tahoe Paradise.
On July 12, 2007, during the Angora fire, he wrote "(here
are) pictures of the burn at Tahoe, but not mine. God was
with me on that day..." The above is the last photo he
ever took of his beautiful "statement." |

THE
TYLERTANIC We all knew Brent loved boats, but this is
a face only a father could love. (One
of my fondest memories is of the wintry early-80's Saturday
which my wife, Betty, our No. 2 son spent and I spent with
Brent and Anne at the cabin and circumnavigating Lake Tahoe
on his flat-bottomed boat. He even let the kid drive. Brent
never mentioned what happened to the above homemade model,
perhaps a previous victim of a youthful operator. Andrew

TWO OBSESSIONS BECOME AS ONE Brent loved cars and politics.
The above photo apparently reminded him of both Detroit wheels
and political wheeler-dealers with whom he had become acquainted
over lo, those many years.

TRAINING
WHEELS Brent at the Isetta concession during a
recent installment of Hot August Nights. (The Isetta was
a highly unstable three-wheeled Fiat sold in the U.S.
in the 1950's. It certainly got great mileage, an irony
which the superannuated conservative very probably pointed
out to a safety-conscious environmentalist or two, or
seven, or twelve.)

Oops!
OK,
folks, take a close look at the picture above and you
can see where this guy broke through the guard rail (right
side where the people are standing on the road). His truck
left the road, traveling from right to left. He flipped
end-over-end, across the drainage outlet and landed on
the left side of it.
Now,
look at the 2nd picture, below....

IF YOU WEREN'T A BELIEVER IN GOD BEFORE, WOULD YOU BE
AFTER THIS?

And
finally, a father's advice to parents: Watch out for the hatchlings
and don't forget to duck!
